Introduction
Agile manufacturing was presented for the first time at the publication in the USA, in a report entitled "21st Century Manufacturing Enterprise Strategy". In agile manufacturing, companies must have the right processes, tools and training so that it is able to respond quickly to changes in the market and also to respond to customers' needs. Agile manufacturing is an evolution from Lean Manufacturing and although they share some similarities they are very different.
The manufacturer in this type of manufacturing process must be ready for changes that the market may bring and adapt it self in the least amount of time possible. Companies to be successful must not only understand the current market and customers' demands but also to predict the future markets and buyers so to gain advantage over the competition.
